LMP2 vs. DP is ridiculous on restarts. IMSA is a farce.

So there was a full course yellow. Alex Brundle's LMP2 had a lead. On the restart, two Daytona Prototypes pass Brundle within 3 corners because they accelerate better, have better speed, and work the tires faster because of their weight.

The Prototype class being forced to use 1 tire is stupid. Either that or LMP2s need more power or DPs need less.

This series is a joke.

What position is Dane Cameron in? I'm watching Indy.

The NASCAR style full course caution so we can bunch up the cars for a one lap sprint is getting pretty ridiculous. This is endurance racing, not a NASCAR sprint.

Dane Cameron took the Turner Motorsports Z4 to 1st in GTD.

Prototype class uses Continentals. P2s from last year used Michellins.

Or they could split DP and LMP2 into two separate classes. It was foolish to think that two cars with vastly different rule books and performance envelopes could race in the same class.

The series would die if they were separate classes. There aren't enough entries to warrant two separate ones.

According to the commentary, the DP's accelerate a little faster to the bus stop and after that the LMP2 cars start to gain the advantage. All in all, it is not that badly imbalanced. Except for restarts.

Oh yeah.... I see what you mean now.

I did know the Conti is a spec tire

They need to eliminate the spec tire. I'm not as bothered by the pass at the green, because like they said, the P2s and the DPs were fast on separate sections of the track.

There's no question that the P2 cars take longer to get their tires up to temperature. However, to be fair, the Action Express car was making a dumb move that pushed the LMP2 car out onto the curbing on Turn 1, and it is very difficult to get grip on those high curbs. The Spirit of Daytona car didn't catch and pass the OAK car solely on horsepower.

OAK should have won that race. I can't fault IMSA for the cautions, they were legit, but man I was so upset because the race wasn't allowed to play itself out naturally. Lots of wrecks! Brundle had a comfortable lead, but a questionable amount of fuel...without those last two yellows, it would have been a pretty dramatic finish. I was excited to watch, but after the wreck, it just took all the wind out of my sails because I knew what was about to happen...
